At Dr. Van Treese’s office, we are all
about relationships. From the minute you call to schedule your first
appointment, to meeting Dr. Van Treese and our friendly, caring staff,
you will notice a difference.
Your first visit will begin with a brief
discussion with Dr. Van Treese, outside the treatment room in a quiet
and welcoming private setting. This will allow you to chat with the Doctor
about your likes, dislikes, and fears as well as discuss what you expect
from us as your dental team.
The examination part of the appointment
with Doctor and one of his assistants will consist of a thorough oral
exam, x-rays and oral, head and neck cancer screening. You will also
be screened for gum disease, the leading cause of tooth loss in adults.
If the findings at your first appointment
warrant a follow up consultation, it will be scheduled free of charge
at a time that allows Dr. Van Treese to review all the clinical information
and develop a treatment plan for you. The consultation appointment will
not only give you an opportunity to ask questions regarding diagnosed
treatment but will also allow you to ask questions regarding potential
insurance coverage and financial arrangements offered at our office.
We look forward to meeting you!
What Your
Child Can Expect At the First Visit
Our
goal is to have your child become a great dental patient who loves to
go to the dentist! Your child’s first visit will be scheduled with one
of our hygienists. We schedule plenty of time so that we can take our
time and work with your child to make the first appointment a pleasant
and comfortable experience. Typically, the first visit will include an
oral exam where the hygienist will “count” your child’s teeth, show the
child a mirror and then check for cavities, plaque and gingivitis. If
your child is comfortable and will allow us, then a cleaning, polish
and fluoride treatment will be performed. Sometimes we will take some
cavity-detecting x-rays at this visit. If a child is very fearful and
won’t let us proceed with treatment, then we at least try to do a visual
exam, and perhaps brush their teeth with a regular toothbrush. Then we
will reschedule your child for a future time when he or she may be more
comfortable with us. All children will receive a toothbrush, toothpaste,
floss and sticker in a goodie bag. We love kids!
