DR. VAN TREESE AND STAFF GIVE BACK
We believe that community
service is a very important part of being a healthcare provider,
so each year we participate in community service events.
In 2000,
we sponsored a charity whitening day and were able to raise over
$6,000 in one day for the Alpha Center in Sidney. In 2002 we
hosted a second charity whitening day and raised over $1,300
for New Beginnings, the battered women’s shelter.
Typically,
we participate in one or two health fairs every year, bringing
free information, free oral care products and sometimes free
oral cancer screenings if the facility allows for that. Our hygienists
give a preschool presentation every year to teach youngsters
how to care for their teeth.
Dr. Van Treese participates in the
“Give Kids A Smile” program that is sponsored by The American
Dental Association, as do several other area dental offices.
With this program, children who qualify receive free dental cleanings
and restorations.
American
Dental Association - Give Kids a Smile
One of our hygienists, Alicia Kehres, started
a sealant program in 2008 to apply sealants free of charge for
kids at one of the elementary schools in Sidney.
Dr. Van Treese
is also very active in his church, and in 2008 went to Haiti
with his church group. While this was not a dental mission, he
did bring fluoride along and was able to give many children their
first fluoride treatment.
Soon, Dr. Van Treese and some staff
members will be volunteering at Compassionate
Care in Sidney,
to bring free dental services to those who qualify.
